Keywords & Content Calendar

All numbers below come from Semrush's domain_rank, resource_organic, phrase_these, and phrase_organic reports, pulled today. nweautocare.com ranks for 42 keywords with about 98 visits a month. Three are in positions 1–3, five in 4–10, and thirteen in 11–20. Most of the rankings come from the car-make pages and the brand name. Every big service search in Katy is unranked. "CPC" is what advertisers pay per click, a good proxy for how much a lead is worth. "near me" volumes are national and decided in the Map Pack; the "katy" terms are local. Where Semrush returned no volume, the table says so instead of guessing.

What Ranks Today

Protect these. Every old URL that ranks gets a 301 to its live twin, never a plain delete, so its position carries over. The home page URL, the business name, and the phone number don't change.

Cluster 1: Head Terms (Auto Repair & Mechanic in Katy)

Today's "auto repair katy" top 12 includes two Reddit threads (r/houston and r/Katy), Yelp, CARFAX, and a Facebook group post, besides shop sites like katyautocare.com and dillonsautomotive.com. Those community threads are exactly what AI engines read. That's why L4 (Reddit) and M8 (Yelp) sit in this plan alongside on-page work.

Cluster 2: Oil Change & Maintenance

This is the biggest local search in the set, and it's a chain fight. The "oil change katy" top 12 is Take 5, Express Oil, Toyota of Katy, Valvoline, Yelp, Groupon, a Facebook group, Jiffy Lube, Brake & Tire Check, Midas, Goodyear, and AutoNation. A local shop wins here with what the chains don't show: a clear price or starting price as text, what's included, the warranty, and named people. See the worked example on the template page.

Cluster 3: Brakes & Transmission (highest-value leads)

Brakes and transmissions carry the highest CPCs in the list ($9.57 and $8.04). One organic visitor here is worth what an advertiser pays for several oil-change clicks. The client's new Facebook campaign ("Affordable Transmission Replacement / Financing Available") also needs a landing page that says the same thing. Building /transmission-service/ well serves both. The "transmission repair katy" top 12 is mostly specialists (transmissionrepairkaty.com, aplustransmissions.com, mytransmissionexperts.com), plus Yelp, CARFAX, and dillonsautomotive.com.

Cluster 4: Tires

Today /tire-shop/ has two H1s, "Tire Types" and "How do I know when to replace my tires?", and neither one says "tire shop in Katy." The old /tire-shop-katy-tx/ competes with it. Fix the H1 and 301 the old page (H1, M2).

Cluster 5: State Inspection, AC & Diagnostics

Inspections are what Google reviewers mention most (7 reviews tagged "car inspection"), so the shop already has proof here. Today three separate pages compete: /state-inspections/, /vehicle-inspection-2/, and /vehicle-state-inspections-katy-tx/. Keep one, 301 the other two, and fix the "-2" slug in the nav.

Cluster 6: Car Makes (already ranking)

The 40 make pages share one template (about 1,150 words each), yet they produce most of the site's non-brand rankings. Make-specific searches are less contested than the head terms. Improve the pages that already rank first (M7): common problems for that make, the shop's experience with it, a review that mentions it, and real photos. Link every make page from /vehicles/ (M1). Pages for discontinued brands (Plymouth, Saturn, Pontiac, Mercury, Saab, Hummer, Scion) are candidates for consolidation into one "older and discontinued makes" section.

Cluster 7: Questions (AI-answer content)

The transmission questions get more national searches than every Katy term on this page combined. An honest, answer-first "what a transmission replacement costs and what changes the price" passage can be cited by AI Overviews and ChatGPT. It also gives the Facebook campaign a credible page to send leads to. Don't publish prices the shop hasn't confirmed.

Page-to-Keyword Map (after the H1 cleanup)

Confirm the exact 301 targets with the client before shipping H1. A Redirection-style rule list in Rank Math (Redirections module) keeps them in one place. Don't 301 /hello-world/ to anything; delete it and let it 404/410.

6-Month Publishing Calendar (Oct 2026 – Mar 2027)

After March 2027: keep two posts a month and rotate through the remaining service pages. Every post links to its service page, and every service page links back to the newest post on its topic. Use each post as a GBP update the same week. Re-pull Semrush quarterly and move terms between clusters based on what Search Console impressions show once C4 is done.
